Nuclear Power - The Energy Balance, a study by Jan Willem Storm van Leeuwen and Philip Smith, finds that uranium reserves are diminishing rapidly and use of poorer quality ores would greatly increase carbon emissions to a level even beyond use of fossil fuels. ; a rebuttal to World Nuclear Association criticism of the report is also included.

NRC letter in response to NIRS request for reconsideration and reversal of the agency’s denial of an emergency enforcement petition requesting backup power to public notification sirens. In the meantime, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton introduces legislation in US Senate to require backup power to emergency notification systems.

On behalf of the millions of members our 437 organizations represent (31 Native American, 26 national, 366 regional/state/local, and 15 international organizations), we urge you not to approve the license application by Private Fuel Storage, LLC (PFS) to open an "interim storage site" for commercial irradiated nuclear fuel at the Skull Valley Goshute Indian Reservation in Utah. This letter was delivered to the NRC Commissioners on But on September 9, 2005, by a split 4 to 1 decision, the NRC Commissioners voted to issue PFS a construction and operating license.
