>>Representing 146 counties in Texas, 866 voting delegates were present at

>the 64th annual Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) convention November 29 - December

3, in Arlington.  One of the major portions of the business meeting at these

conventions is devoted to discussing and voting on resolutions for inclusion

into official TFB Policy.  Both Carson and Potter County Farm Bureaus

>>submitted the following resolution that was adopted into State Policy:

"We oppose the processing, reprocessing and the production of mixed oxide

fuel (MOX) in areas where there is possibility or risk of pollution and

contamination of agricultural land, air and groundwater."

This resolution was also approved to be forwarded to the American Farm

Bureau Federation (AFBF)as a recommendation for official national policy.

TFB is recognized as a very important and powerful lobby for agriculture in

Austin, as is the AFBF in Washington, D.C.  The Potter County Farm Bureau

was represented by four area citizens:  Ronald and Trish Neusch, Farris and

Bernice Brewer.  The Texas Farm Bureau is comprised of 311,000 member

families, including approximately 100,000 directly receiving the majority of

their income from

agriculture.
