April 2, 2008: Filing by BEST (Bellefonte Efficiency and Sustainability Team) to delay hearings at Bellefonte based on the incomplete application presented by TVA and NRC-acknowledged delays in receiving information from TVA and Westinghouse.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and NuStart Energy have applied for a Combined Construction/Operating License to build two Westinghouse AP 1000 Pressurized Water Reactors at Bellefonte, Alabama. This was the site of a failed effort by TVA to build two reactors. The two were ordered in 1970, construction began in 1974, and, when abandoned around 1992, they were said to be 80% and 45% completed.
